Turf paint is applied with a garden sprayer, which is available at almost any hardware store or garden center. A garden sprayer that is at least one gallon is recommended; a bigger backpack-style sprayer is useful if painting a large space.

Mow grass prior to painting to avoid cutting off the colorant once applied. Remove any debris from the lawn. Check that rain is not in the forecast for at least 8 hours. Avoid spraying in windy conditions. Apply to dry or slightly damp lawn.
